Flower and Land’s
Company Sustainability Policy
Sustainability Policy
At Flower and Land, we are committed to creating thoughtful, seasonal floristry with the greatest respect for the environment and the natural landscape. Sustainability underpins our approach to sourcing, design, and day-to-day business practices, guiding our commitment to responsible craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
At Flower and Land, sustainability and seasonality are central to the way we work. We believe in treading lightly, working with, not against nature. We are committed to creating beautiful floral designs with consideration for the environment, responsible sourcing practices, and long-term sustainability.
As a seasonal florist, we believe flowers should reflect the natural rhythms of the seasons while minimising unnecessary environmental impact. We are committed to continually improving our environmental and social practices and to embedding sustainability throughout the day-to-day operation of our business.
Our Commitments
Seasonal and Responsible Sourcing
We prioritise the use of seasonal flowers and foliage, grown in the United Kingdom, and using organically grown flowers where possible, supporting local British growers and reducing the environmental impact associated with imported flowers and air freight.
We work with trusted suppliers who share our commitment to responsible growing practices, sustainability, and quality craftsmanship.
Reducing Environmental Impact
We actively seek to minimise waste and reduce the environmental footprint of our business through:
We are committed to maintaining a foam-free floristry practice, it is completely prohibited in any of our floral work
Reusing vessels, containers, props, and packaging materials
Recycling cardboard, paper, glass, and green waste
Composting organic floral waste where possible
Reducing the use of single-use plastics
Selecting recyclable, reusable, or biodegradable packaging materials
We aim to reduce water waste, reusing water where possible, and selecting methods of working which require minimum use of water
Responsible Purchasing
We aim to source products and materials thoughtfully, favouring those that are:
British-grown/made and locally sourced where possible
Natural, reusable, recyclable, or biodegradable
Ethically and sustainably produced
We regularly review our suppliers and sourcing practices to identify opportunities for improvement.
Supporting People and Community
We are committed to maintaining respectful and positive relationships with our clients, suppliers, growers, freelancers, and local community. We support independent British flower growers and value fair, collaborative, and inclusive working practices.
Sustainability Targets
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are working towards the following objectives:
To source at least 90% British-grown flowers and foliage during the UK growing season
To continue to maintain a total foam-free approach across all of our floral installations and arrangements
To reduce single-use plastic packaging year-on-year and prioritise reusable or biodegradable alternatives wherever possible
Progress against these objectives will be reviewed annually.
Monitoring and Review
Responsibility for implementing and reviewing this Sustainability Policy sits with:
